Over the course of a lifetime people develop coping skills to deal with all kinds of challenges. Sometimes, however, we either encounter a situation for which we've had no preparation, or we find our usually-adequate coping skills overwhelmed by the enormity of a particular problem. It is truly an intelligent choice to seek therapy when one has become discouraged by a (perceived) decreased capacity for coping.
My treatment approach is practical, interactive, and solution-focused while being very sensitive and compassionate. My goal is to provide support and helpful feedback to facilitate handling life's challenges. Blending conventional and integrative approaches to treatment, I will draw on a variety of styles and techniques to discover what will be most helpful for you individually. Oftentimes this includes cognitive therapy and the cultivation of mindfulness.
We will work together to identify and achieve your goals, in part, by building on the strengths you already possess. Treatment is both supportive and insight-oriented. Since insight without action leads to a greater sense of feeling discouraged and frustrated, expect to receive plenty of encouragement to keep moving forward.
